We hired out the septic system. There was an error on the part of our contractor and when he came back to remedy it, he used his backhoe to dig the trench for the waterline--a huge benefit to us!

You can see the backhoe in the distance. |
We ended up with a 1000 gallon tank and a 500 gallon tank, for a total of 1500 gallons (the error was that the too-small tank was originally put in, so our contractor added the smaller one.
We covered the drainfield with yellow sweet clover seeds (because it is a favorite of bees...and we love our bees!).
Money Spent: $6593 (7159 total)
(previously spent $566 on permits and water test)
septic system installation: $6560
1 lb yellow sweet clover seeds for drainfield cover: $5
sewer pipe: $28
